Why Stippa is modular
A two-chair salon doesn't need software that comes with a training course. That's why Stippa is built from modules, and salons can now switch them on and off themselves.
This week Stippa got a new switch. Just one, per module, in the settings. It looks modest, but the whole idea behind Stippa is in it. So grab a coffee.
Two kinds of hassle
A small salon that wants online bookings usually ends up with one of two kinds of software.
The first kind is the big suite. Till, stock, marketing, reports, it's all in there. You use a fraction of it, you pay for all of it, and every morning you click past menus you'll never need just to reach your calendar.
The second kind looks dirt cheap, but takes a cut of every appointment or payment. That feels fine, until your busiest month ever turns out to come with your biggest bill ever. Success turns into a cost.
Stippa does it differently: a fixed monthly price, no commission, and only the parts you actually use.
Everything is a module
Online booking, reminders, payments: in Stippa, each of them is a module (opens an external site). Only want online bookings? Then that's all you see. Want customers to pay online in advance later on? Then you switch that module on. And whatever's off is really gone. No empty menus, no settings for things you don't use.

Until this week I had to set that up for a salon. Now the settings show every module, what it does, and a switch. On, off, done.
The work is on my side
To be fair, building modular is more work. Every combination of modules has to keep working, including the ones almost nobody picks. A screen can't fall over because a salon has payments switched off, and a reminder can't point to something that isn't there.
But that work is mine to do, not the salon's. I'd rather build something that's hard for me and simple for you than the other way round.
What's next?
Stippa is still new. Which module comes next depends on the salons that start using it. Curious? stippa.nl (opens an external site) shows what it can do today, and the case study goes into how it works under the hood.
